What is Access to Work?
If you're disabled, neurodivergent, or living with a health condition that affects your working life, the Access to Work grant scheme could offer valuable support. Run by the UK government, this discretionary scheme is designed to help people get into work, stay in work, or return to work after a break, whatever that looks like for you.
The support on offer is broad and can be tailored to your individual needs. Depending on your circumstances, funding might go towards specialist equipment, workplace adaptations, travel costs, or extra support such as a Virtual Assistant or ADHD coaching. For neurodivergent employees, including those with ADHD, autism, or dyslexia, this could mean tools and strategies that make day-to-day tasks more manageable and workplaces more accessible.
It's worth knowing that Access to Work doesn't replace an employer's legal responsibility to make reasonable adjustments. Instead, it works alongside those adjustments, filling in the gaps and providing that extra layer of support many people need to do their job well and feel confident doing it.
If you think this scheme might apply to you, or you're an employer wanting to support your team better, we're here to help you understand your options and take the next step.
Our support team has a wealth of expertise in dealing with the Access to Work scheme.
We can support you with all aspects of the process including support after you have been awarded your grant through our Virtual Assistance service.
